Musa

Boka logo

was launched in 1999 and brings together a stunning array of exceptional, international talents in a band who keep tradition relevant and most definitely ‘made in England’ and gain rave receptions for national touring.

African and Asian beats, guaranteed to set even the most churlish foot a-tapping, kick in as soon as the caller starts.
English tunes, African improvisations and driving bass grooves complete a mix to make you strut the old figures in a way they don’t usually get strutted!

3- to 6-piece line-ups available featuring:
Roger Watson - melodeon, caller, vocals
Musa Mboob - sabar drums, percussion, vocals
Ousman Beyai - guitar, bass
Tom Fairbairn - bass, fiddle
Thomas Christen - alto sax

Iqbal Khan Pathan -
dholak, nall, other Indian percussion

Festivals have included
Sidmouth, Towersey, Broadstairs, WOMAD, Shrewsbury, Stroud, Festival at the Edge, Woodworks …
and many more

“I absolutely loved Roger & Boka Halat.  The totally different style of calling, dancing and rhythm is great”
ShrewsburyFestival 2008 on eceilidh

“The workshop dealt with my doubts and inhibitions - and at the evening event, for the absolutely first time in my life.  I felt the music and the rhythm of the dance get to me and was lost in the pleasures of it. We didn't miss a single dance
and the whole experience was totally exhilarating”  Glasbury Arts 2008 email

Boka Halat are also available for concert spots and for workshops, both during the festival and in the community beforehand.  To enquire about booking Boka Halat just phone 01709 739093 or email pete@thebpasgroup.co.uk.
