A free opportunity
for 12 - 21 yr olds
The competition for 2010 moves to be a part of Wath Folk Festival on Sunday afternoon May 2nd with the winner playing main stage that evening. That apart all other arrangements remain the same as for the previous five years.
Last year the audience were entertained with sets for West
Yorkshire singer-songwriter Roger Davies
plus the usual music and nonsense to be expected from main
guest Bernard Wrigley. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable evening based on the views
of the audience as they left and more so by this glowing testimonial just
received from one of the finalists:
“I'd just like to
express a heartfelt thank you for your hospitality and organisational efforts
for Saturday’s final. I left the
competition with a great amount of pride in having found an advancing
capability in terms of solo performance. I had come to know that folk music would be
important to my life and Saturday's concert has only compounded my passion for
it. I have never been offered the chance to perform folk music in this way
before and am excited about what other opportunities might come my
way.” Chloe
